Significance: A way one can express their thoughts, emotions, or experiences while letting the rest of the world, or at least the reader, know about it. Poetry can tell us about historical events and cultures. It can also be used as a form of entertainment or as a way to express one's self. Poetry is a big part of writing, and since we are studying the art of language, we would definitely use the term.
